Shockwave Therapy

As technology advances, there are more innovative and effective ways treat musculoskeletal injuries. Extracorpeal shockwave therapy (EWST) is one of the latest technologies used to treat previously stubborn injuries within a few sessions. We are accredited with the world leading Swiss Dolorclast method and use their latest equipment (see here).

What is ESWT?

Shockwaves are movements of extreme high pressure. In ESWT, this energy is applied to soft tissues such as tendons, which has been clinically proven to stimulate metabolic reactions, including a reduction in pain, increased blood circulation and acclerating healing process.

What conditions can be treated with ESWT?

  • Tennis/ golfers elbow

  • Shoulder pain - rotator cuff injuries, calcifying tendons

  • Lower back pains

  • Hip pains - greater trochanteric bursitis

  • Knee pains - medial tibial stress syndrone, patellar tip syndrome, Osgood-Schlatter disease

  • Achilles tendon pains

  • Plantar fascitis

How many sessions are needed?

According to recent evidence, a minimum of three sessions are usually required for the most effective treatment. However, some reports suggest up to 80% improvement even after the first session.
